MicroSeismic Releases Advanced Real-Time Analysis Technologies

HOUSTON, TEXAS – August 5, 2014: MicroSeismic, Inc. (MicroSeismic) announced today that it has released new technologies to allow for Advanced Real-time Analysis.  As the leader in real-time microseismic imaging, the Company has enhanced its capabilities to give clients the opportunity to make critical adjustments at the well site in order to optimize production and reduce costs.

The new technologies include Automatic Moment Tensor Inversion (Auto MTI), which enables more accurate source mechanisms, on every event, in real-time; Event Editing which is a machine-learning software that locates more microseismic events more accurately; and Anisotropic Calibration which allows for faster and more accurate event locations by utilizing advanced seismic anisotropy techniques.

“Providing analysis of microseismic events in real-time has been a staple service offering for MicroSeismic. Today, we are proud to announce enhancements to the technology that allow for completions evaluation in real-time,” stated Mike Thornton, Ph.D., CTO, MicroSeismic. “These new technologies allow customers to get faster results, improve critical decision making, and ultimately reduce costs.”

Automatic Moment Tensor Inversion (Auto MTI) allows for the provision of source mechanisms on every event in real-time— a breakthrough for the industry.  This information helps operators understand how the rock is breaking, leading to improved understanding of the reservoir.

Event Editing features machine learning software that utilizes an advanced algorithm to analyze a dozen or more event attributes simultaneously.  This automation increases speed and reduces subjectivity.  Additionally, event count is increased by approximately 10%, providing clients with the most actionable information possible.

Anisotropic Calibration is a faster and more effective technique that utilizes advanced seismic anisotropy techniques to increase the speed and accuracy of results and the ability to interpret data in real-time.

MicroSeismic, Inc. is an oilfield services company providing microseismic-based Completions Evaluation Services in eighteen countries.  Founded in 2003, MicroSeismic is the leading provider of microseismic monitoring activity utilizing surface, near-surface and downhole arrays.  The company continually pushes the boundaries of new technology and delivers services that allow oil and gas companies to gauge the quality of completions, improve production, and reduce costs.
