MicroSeismic Inc. (MSI) has contracted with Transform Software & Services to license its TerraSuite software system for imaging unconventional gas reservoirs.
TerraSuite software will allow MSI to deliver “interpretation-ready” microseismic data to operators. MSI customers will have quick visual representations of their projects so they can make better decisions about their completion strategies. The software will also streamline data preparation within MSI.
“This will be a value-added service to our customers,” said MSI President Peter Duncan. “Rather than importing raw data files into legacy interpretation systems that have not been designed for microseismic interpretation and analysis, customers will now work with MSI-provided microseismic data in a fully functional interactive viewer. This will make the whole process from acquisition through interpretation seamless and complete.”
Transform is the leading provider of software for visualizing and interpreting unconventional reservoirs. It enables operators to extract value from their investment in microseismic data by correlating hydraulic fracturing effectiveness with geologic sweetspots and estimating stimulated reservoir volumes. This, in turn, is important for optimizing the elements of hydraulic fracturing – the number of stages, amount of fluid and proppant, pressures – and for estimating the reserves in a single well or an entire field.
“Using Transform software will speed up our cycle time and streamline our workflows,” Duncan said. “And our customers will have full visualization capabilities for well treatment, wellbore, perforation, velocity, well log, culture, image, horizon and other data.”
“Transform is excited to be working with the leader in surface microseismic and pleased to be MSI’s technology provider,” Murray Roth, president of Transform Software and Services said. “Transform technology was designed for the integration challenges of unconventional oil and gas plays, and that’s why seven out of ten operators are using it to drive optimization of their fields. MSI’s use of our software will be a big productivity gain for their customers’ operations.”
MicroSeismic, Inc. (MSI) is a geophysical service company providing real-time monitoring and mapping of hydraulic fracture operations for the development of unconventional oil and gas plays. Founded in 2003, MSI is the pioneer in monitoring passive microseismic activity utilizing surface arrays and permanent, near-surface arrays. These arrays eliminate the expense of offset monitoring wells, allow multi-well evaluations from a single installation, and provide the most comprehensive microseismic-based visualization and interpretation opportunity in the market.
Geological information such as Discrete Fracture Networks and Stimulated Reservoir Volume are available to the operator enabling better development planning. MSI’s technology provides real-time information on fracture location and geometry helping operators increase production and recovery while decreasing cost and risk.
