SUMMARY:Integrated Microseismic and 3D Seismic Inversion for Predicting Effective Minimum Horizontal Stress
DESCRIPTION:Add to Calendar\n\n\n\n\n\nOur Speakers:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBill Goodway\,Scientific AdvisorQeye\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbstract:\n\n\n\nThe ability to high-grade unconventional resource plays is an essential requirement for optimizing completions to maximize stimulated rock volume. Effective hydraulic pore pressure stimulation requires the opening of existing natural fractures and the presence of conducive geomechanical properties within the formation capable of supporting extensive induced fractures. \n\n\n\nThis presentation will describe the combined use of microseismic verification and validation with rock physics 3D seismic inversion including pore pressure and differential horizontal tectonic stress anisotropy used to estimate the Effective Minimum Horizontal Closure Stress gradient to predict effective stimulated permeability. These microseismic and seismic derived geomechanical model estimates can then be quantitatively correlated and calibrated to engineering DFIT measurements. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker Bios:\n\n\n\nBill Goodway obtained a B.Sc. in Geology from University College London and an M.Sc. in Geophysics from the University of Calgary. After working in the United Kingdom\, he joined PanCanadian Petroleum in 1985 where he became Team Lead of a Seismic Analysis Group. Following the EnCana merger he continued in Frontier-New Ventures and Canadian Gas Shales\, as Advisor for Seismic Analysis. In 2010 Bill joined Apache as Manager Geophysics-Advisor Senior Staff\, involved in all aspects of seismic acquisition design\, processing interaction\, experimental special projects and new AVO methods. In 2019 Bill joined Qeye as Scientific Advisor Quantitative Interpretation and AVO technology. \n\n\n\nBill has authored numerous papers at CSEG\, EAGE and SEG conventions on seismic acquisition and processing\, borehole geophysics\, anisotropy\, multicomponent recording and QI/AVO. \n\n\n\nBill was awarded five CSEG Best Paper Awards from 1994 to 2025\, the CSEG Medal in 2007 and was a past SEG Honorary Lecturer for North America. The CSEG recognized Bill as the 2013 Symposium honouree and in 2016 he received the SEG’s Reginald Fessenden Award for lambda-rho-mu (LMR) inversion technology.

SUMMARY:The DHI Playbook: Lessons from 26 Years of Global Exploration Data
DESCRIPTION:Add to Calendar\n\n\n\n\n\nOur Speakers:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRocky Roden\,Rocky Ridge Resources Inc.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbstract:\n\n\n\n\nOver the past 25 years\, the Rose & Associates DHI (Direct Hydrocarbon Indicator) Consortium has developed a risking methodology that combines traditional geological chance factors with a DHI Index. The approach is supported by a database of more than 400 wells contributed by over 85 oil companies worldwide.\n\n\n\nThe methodology evaluates DHI characteristics based on their location\, relationships to analogs\, models\, and trends\, and their impact on seismic response within the sediment column. Data quality—including seismic acquisition and processing\, rock and fluid properties\, and modeling—is a critical part of the risk analysis process.\n\n\n\nThe consortium database has identified the most important DHI characteristics\, common reasons for failure\, and a “DHI Threshold Effect” with significant implications for well success rates. Results show that integrating geology is essential\, and that the best outcomes require identifying multiple amplitude anomaly characteristics while honoring the fundamentals and integration of all DHI elements.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister now\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Company Name(Required)Job Title(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Phone(Required)What completions challenges are you working on?(Required)\n \n Understanding fracture geometry and containment\n \n \n Identifying frac-driven interactions / parent-child interference\n \n \n Detecting faults or structural hazards\n \n \n Understanding stress orientation / SHmax\n \n \n Evaluating completion effectiveness\n \n \n Optimizing well or stage spacing\n \n \n Mitigating casing deformation / well integrity risk\n \n \n Real-time monitoring during completions\n \n \n Induced seismicity monitoring\n \n \n CCUS monitoring\n \n \n Geothermal monitoring\n \n \n Other (please specify)\n Select as many as apply. Please tell us about your other completions challenge(s).(Required)Do you have an active or upcoming project where our technology could be relevant?(Required)\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n Please tell us more about your interest in our technology.Would you like to receive text reminders about this event? SUMMARY:Stress\, Fractures\, and Curvature (Part II): Evaluating the Subsurface in 3D Using Azimuthal Seismic\, ISIPs\, and Microseismic Data
DESCRIPTION:Add to Calendar\n\n\n\n\n\nOur Speakers:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHeloise Lynn\,Consulting Geophysicist\, Lynn Incorporated\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbstract:\n\n\n\n\nMaximizing completion efficiency in fractured limestone reservoirs depends on targeting zones with both conducive geomechanical properties and open natural fractures. While the industry understands the theory behind effective hydraulic stimulation\, execution requires an integrated map of the local horizontal stress field and fluid-conductive networks.\n\n\n\nThis presentation delivers a comprehensive asset workflow by combining P-P azimuthal interval velocities and prestack amplitudes with engineering validation from ISIPs and microseismic data. I demonstrate how azimuthal prestack depth migration transforms properly acquired field data into actionable insights: utilizing azimuthal interval velocities to map minimum horizontal stresses and stress inequalities\, and azimuthal prestack amplitudes to map aligned\, fluid-flowing connected porosity.\n\n\n\nFeaturing expanded findings that carry on from Lynn and Goodway (2020\, Interpretation)\, this session bridges the gap between geophysical processing and reservoir engineering to deliver critical criteria for high-grading your next asset location.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister now\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Company Name(Required)Job Title(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Phone(Required)What completions challenges are you working on?(Required)\n \n Understanding fracture geometry and containment\n \n \n Identifying frac-driven interactions / parent-child interference\n \n \n Detecting faults or structural hazards\n \n \n Understanding stress orientation / SHmax\n \n \n Evaluating completion effectiveness\n \n \n Optimizing well or stage spacing\n \n \n Mitigating casing deformation / well integrity risk\n \n \n Real-time monitoring during completions\n \n \n Induced seismicity monitoring\n \n \n CCUS monitoring\n \n \n Geothermal monitoring\n \n \n Other (please specify)\n Select as many as apply. Please tell us about your other completions challenge(s).(Required)Do you have an active or upcoming project where our technology could be relevant?(Required)\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n Please tell us more about your interest in our technology.Would you like to receive text reminders about this event?
