We are looking for an ambitious Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations and contribute to our continued success. This position is responsible for overseeing the accounting department’s daily operations including month-end close procedures, state and property tax issues, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, annual audits, reconciliations, and managing staff. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of GAAP, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, strong work ethics, and high energy. Candidates should show interest and ability for internal advancement. There is a hybrid option of working from home two days per week once established with the company.
Summary of Responsibilities
This position will provide leadership, direction, and support for the accounting team and provide financial data analytics. The position will also produce accurate and complete financial reports and related financial reporting packages.
The responsibilities include ensuring accurate and timely financial monthly close, quality compliance with GAAP, and tight internal controls (both preventative and detective). This position will ensure accurate and timely payments of state and property taxes, and coordinate efforts with the outside CPA firm.
This position will assist in interpreting financial results, developing appropriate plans to improve overall financial capability, and exploit operational opportunities to enhance profits. It will develop relevant business information, accurate accounting/financial systems, and timely financial forecasts.
This position will supervise assigned accounting functions and staff and manage organizational development to achieve continuous improvement of the financial function capabilities within the Company which will include participation in the preparation of the consolidated financial information and publication of the internal consolidated financial statements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Accounting: Responsible for the preparation and integrity of financial reports; bank compliance; review of all payables transactions purchases, work with field ops personnel to establish pricing and job costing for field ops project proposals, asset accounting and processes, accurate cutoffs, timely account reconciliation and support. Possess strong understanding of GAAP accounting and the OFS industry, or labor-intensive industry.
- Business Management: Support business decision making with financial perspective and analysis; financial impact analysis of significant business events; operating cost management; gross margin management.
- Planning and Control: Assist in developing annual budgets and periodic forecasts; capital planning and expenditure analysis and control including reconciliation of AFE’s to actual additions to the Fixed Asset module.
- Organizational Development: Create an environment of financial stewardship by assisting and directing the production and interpretation of relevant and accurate financial reports.

Competencies
- Ability to manage the month-end close process and coordinate staff activities. Manage state and property taxes, ensure they are calculated accurately and paid timely. Resolve any disputes. Effectively work with outside CPA firms on financial audit and taxes.
- Ability to leverage and improve use of accounting software to gain labor efficiencies and improve reporting capabilities. Solid work experience and understanding of QuickBooks and ADP software systems.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting coupled with a minimum of eight years’ experience in accounting and operational support. Significant experience with the month-end close process, financial statement preparation, GAAP financial reporting, and managing state and local taxes.
- Prior experience as an Accounting Manager in a lower middle market oil field service company (or labor/manufacturing focused company).
- Prior work experience with a CPA firm is preferred. CPA designation/ eligibility is preferred.
- Experience in a project cost accounting environment is preferred.
- Ability to perform detail work, manage processes and people, and mentor staff.
- Prefer ambitious and energetic professional interested in professional advancement.
Pay Range
- Pay range for the position is $95,000 to $120,000.
