Hydraulic Fracture Mapping
MSI’s monitoring, mapping and analysis services and expertise provides a better understanding of the fracture geometry, azimuth, connectivity, density, and length, which allows for improvements to the frac program by modifying the pump pressure, pump rate, proppant mesh and placement. In addition, visualizing the microseismic events in 4D allows the completion engineer to see the effects of proppant and fluid type. With a better understanding of the stimulated reservoir volume, operators can determine if improvements are needed for the well spacing and completion plan.
Reservoir Monitoring
MSI’s Buried Array technology is perfectly suited for reservoir monitoring programs such as Life of Field (LOF) studies, “Heavy oil production”/Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD), CO2 sequestration monitoring, and the monitoring of geothermal projects, reservoir subsidence, and steam and water injection programs.
Data Processing & Analysis
MSI offers processing, reprocessing and analysis services for passive seismic datasets that have been acquired from other service companies. Our team of experienced geophysicists and geologists, utilize our leading processing and imaging technologies such as PSET®, relative locations and source mechanism analysis to help provide the highest resolution imaging and analysis of the microseismic events. Our team of experts have processed and analyzed data from all over the globe from downhole, surface or shallow borehole datasets.
Geological Interpretation &
Source Mechanism Identification
The results of microseismic monitoring of hydraulic fracture treatments are significantly more valuable when a high-confidence interpretation of the results is also provided. MSI offers geologic analysis of induced microseismicity, which includes rock mechanics, to help improve understanding of what processes may have been in play during the stimulation. Incorporating available geologic information into the results leads to a more comprehensive interpretation providing a predictive capability for frac behavior in subsequent wells.
Structural Mapping
Through the use of microseismic monitoring, highly accurate structural maps can be developed, and important geological information identified to provide critical information in the exploration efforts of the field.
