Reservoir Monitoring
MSI is performing feasibility studies, researching ways to apply our technology to reservoir monitoring applications.
Reservoir monitoring is among the various applications for MicroSeismic, Inc.'s (MSI's) BuriedArray™ microseismic data acquisition service. Our BuriedArray™ service provides a cost-effective and comprehensive method for monitoring long-term, dynamic changes in the reservoir associated with production and injection operations.
The permanently-installed array can provide economically viable, long-term microseismic monitoring over large volumes of reservoir rock. An area of 25 square miles (65+ square kilometers) can be monitored with a single installation; this will allow for either periodic or continuous monitoring over years of development and production.
Reservoir monitoring applications made possible with the BuriedArray™ service include:
- Hydraulic fracture stimulation optimization
- Drainage area mapping for individual wells in tight sands and gas shales
- Injection patterns in SAGD or high-pressure cyclical steam injection fields
- CO2 migration paths in CO2 sequestration or tertiary recovery projects
