SEISMIC DATA ACQUISITION – BURIEDARRAY™ SERVICE
MicroSeismic, Inc.'s (MSI's) BuriedArray™ microseismic data acquisition service employs an array of geophones permanently installed and buried near the surface to monitor areas ranging from 15 to 500 square miles (40 to 1300 square kilometers). This microseismic monitoring service uses MSI's Passive Seismic Emission Tomography, or PSET®, technology which collects data from the geophone array and processes it to show, in real-time, how fractures are propagating during the frac job.
The BuriedArray™ microseismic data acquisition service is ideal for operators who need to monitor multiple wells and need monitoring over a longer period of time. The ability to monitor large areas leads to more strategic field planning and development. In addition to monitoring frac jobs, our service has been successfully implemented for several other applications, including:
- Life of Field (LOF) studies
- Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) for heavy-oil production
- Monitoring geothermal projects, reservoir subsidence, and steam and water injection programs.
The BuriedArray™ service's benefits are clear:
- No need for monitor wells, which can cost between US $2M - US $4M
- Precise mapping of large geographical areas with high resolution
- More informed well-completion and field-development decisions
- Optimized production at lower costs.
MSI has installed its BuriedArray™ service for multiple clients in the Haynesville, Bakken and Marcellus shale plays and is currently working on implementations in other emerging shale plays in both the US and Canada.
