Bill Coates
President and CEO
William (Bill) Coates is the President and CEO of MicroSeismic, Inc. Bill succeeds Peter Duncan, who now serves as Executive Chairman of MicroSeismic’s Board of Directors. With over 20 years of experience, Bill’s career began in the late eighties at Schlumberger, LTD where he worked in a variety of management and engineering positions, including CIO of the Oilfield Services division, VP and GM of the Gulf of Mexico Business Unit and President of SchlumbergerSema North. As VP of Marketing at Schlumberger, Coates was based in Paris, France and was responsible for the sales and marketing objectives of 16 business lines that accrued more than $35B in annual sales. In addition to these duties, Bill led the annual “Input to R&E” process, which reserved $1B in annual Research and Engineering spend, as well as coordinated corporate strategy efforts. Bill holds a BSc. from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA in Mechanical Engineering and in 2004 earned an IMD in Executive Finance. He is active in a variety of industry, artistic and charitable organizations, including the Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association (where he served as Chairman for 2010-2011), the Houston Grand Opera, and the Spindletop charity.
